My core belief is that each one of us comes to the table of life HUNGRY, TIRED, DESIRING NOURISHMENT, and OFTEN DISAPPOINTED with the lack of depth and sustenance of what life offers. I also believe that we are equally FULL OF GIFTS to bring ourselves and others, yet on the VERGE OF GIVING UP HOPE and READY TO LEAVE or DISENGAGE from life.
I truly believe these things about myself and other humans. We are desperate for love: to give and to receive. We are desperate for a life worthy of our time and energy and resources. And I believe that this must be true in some form if you are thinking about starting counseling.
Counseling is a way of saying, “I need help.” It is an opportunity to join together to address the needs that are going unmet in your life. It is a chance to make change with the help of someone else – myself. I believe that counseling is meant to be an incredible yet vulnerable process where people join together to confess, forgive and move through pain into places of hope and healing. And I believe we need others to help us with this process.
We are wounded in relationship and we are also healed in relationship. My goal is to help you come to a place of treating yourself and your wounds with the most care you can give – and to walk along with you as you take risks to make changes that bring life instead of death.
Much of my theoretical approach is informed by psychodynamic, object- relations, family systems and emotion-focused therapy.
If you want to know more about these approaches please feel free to email or call me.
